The city of David is the capital of Chiriqui Province and the third largest city in Panama, with a population of about 85,000. David is a hub of the region for shopping, transportation, education, commerce, government affairs, banking, health care… you name it!

David is growing with numerous housing developments in progress and new commercial centers completed. The airport was recently expanded to accommodate international flights and a new bus terminal is planned. The Pan-American Highway runs through the city, and the section from Santiago to David is now being widened and improved.  The highway that connects David and Boquete has been widened from two to four lanes and has made the drive a pleasure!

The compact downtown area of David features a lovely central park graced by a pastel-colored church and stores of every variety. Fanning out from the center well-established neighborhoods with tree-lined streets mingle with small businesses and schools. The large Terronal Mall, Chiriqui Mall and PriceSmart Plaza line the highway along with private and public hospitals and auto service centers.

With all the convenience of taking care of business, the shopping choices and multitude of services and schools, David is a great place to live. Housing is affordable, with new homes selling for $80,000 to $150,000 depending on size and location. Quality older homes are available in the $150,000 to $300,000 range. There is also a large rental market in the area, with a typical three-bedroom, two bath home renting for $500 to $800 per month unfurnished, and $600 to $1000 per month furnished. It’s not hard to find good value in real estate in and around David.
